Obituary for Charles Edwin "C.E." Woodruff Jr.
Charles Edwin “C.E.” Woodruff, Jr., 77, of Winchester, VA passed away peacefully in the Blue Ridge Hospice In-Patient Care Center on Friday, July 15, 2016.
He was born on August 4, 1938 in Roanoke Rapids, NC; the son of Charles E. Woodruff, Sr. and Fannie Ruth Barnett Woodruff.
He received a Master of Divinity from Duke University. He lived a life touched with love and humor and he had a special way of charming children and animals. To know him was to love him. He was passionate about wildlife and plants especially orchids. He was a member of the Lord Fairfax Orchid Society for many years.
Charles is survived by his daughters, Joy Woodruff Booth and husband, Paul of Hagerstown, MD and Sarah Beth Woodruff Maronpot and husband, Jeremy of Raleigh, NC; niece, Kelly Jo Spitzer and her sons, Mason and Dixon of Winchester; and brothers, Dennis Woodruff and sons, Anthony and Brandon of Richmond, VA and sister in law, Irma Woodruff and her son, Adam of Roanoke Rapids.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Woodruff.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening, July 18, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Jones Funeral Home with Pastor Richard E. Rutherford, Jr. officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids, NC.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Winchester, VA. 22601.
