Condolences

Condolence From: Bob Waters
Condolence: To Dennis and Friends of CE,
I found myself on the verge of tears to learn that this gentle soul had crossed over to be with God. CE and I grew up together on the same block of Henry street that was the nexus of the ‘mill village’ where our parents found steady employment after leaving the farm. For some, both parents worked in the mills, but in CE’s case, it was his mother, Fanny Ruth, who made in possible for CE and his brothers to find a way to make it. Their father died in WWII. Growing up, CE and I were outnumbered by the girls. Up the street were the Lynch girls and down the street were the Finch girls. Before the streets were paved, we waited for the rain so that we could build dams to harness the water into pools so that we could launch our sail boats. And in the summer, we would sit under the street light until our parents called us in. On any given evening, I would find out which household would have hot biscuits for dinner and prevail upon my parents to wrangle an invitation for me. There was no air conditioning, so we would sit outside during the summer months and pull the beds near the windows at bed time so that what little air was moving wafted across. For all of our ‘disadvantages’ our parents managed to send most of us to college. I could probably find any number of reasons for the failure of our generation to make our home a better place for anyone who is willing to put forth the effort but I fear that we are running out of Charles Edwin Woodruff’s to make our case for a better future. Goodbye my friend. Bob Waters

Condolence: C. E. and I were classmates at RRHS. He was a sweet boy and a sweet man. I enjoyed spending time with him at our reunion gathering and I will miss him when we get together in Oct.

I am thinking of you and praying that you will find comfort in a loving God as you grieve your great loss.
