Obituary for Doris Pearl Alexander

Doris P. Alexander, 89, of Stephens City, died Tuesday, May 15, 2018.
Mrs. Alexander was born August 28, 1928 in Port Republic, VA; the daughter of the late Joseph C. Pearl and Ann Groah Pearl. She and her husband owned and operated Toney’s Supermarket in Front Royal. She was a member of Stephens City United Methodist Church and Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority.
She married Homer B. Alexander on September 24, 1949 in Port Republic, VA. Mr. Alexander preceded her in death August 10, 2014.
She is survived by her daughter, Lucinda A. Toney of Stephens City; two granddaughters, Kimberly Toney Needles and Susan Toney Lessar; and five great grandchildren, Jacob Scott Needles, Carlin Elizabeth Lessar, Casey Alexander Lessar, Catherine McNalley Lessar, and Madison Leigh Needles; and one sister, JoAnn Pearl Brady of Charlottesville, VA.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the home of her granddaughter, Susan Lessar.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Port Republic United Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Joyner officiating. Burial will follow in Port Republic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Brady, William Brady, III, Stephen Alexander, Josh Alexander, William Brady IV, Aidan Brady, and Alex Brady.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
