Obituary for Mary Eugenia "Jeannie" Thweatt (Caldwell)
Mary Eugenia “Jeannie” Thweatt, 81, of Gore, VA, died Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Greenfield Reflections of Strasburg. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends as the Angels lifted her away.
Jeannie was born October 18, 1936 in Winchester, VA; the daughter of the late William Pierce and Mary Ellen Arnold Caldwell. She was a member of the James Wood Class of 1955 and worked for FEMA until her retirement in 2001. Following Jeannie’s retirement, she volunteered passionately at ABBA Pregnancy Center and Congregational Community Action Program (CCAP).
Jeannie is survived by her three daughters; Judy Diane Glynn and her husband Robert of Winchester, Conny Thweatt Ritchie and her husband Robert of Front Royal, VA and Kelly Jane Rossi and her husband Joseph of Stephens City; her brother, Pearce Caldwell; her sister Martha Dillow and six grandchildren.
Jeannie was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe Caldwell, Ralph Caldwell, Robert Caldwell, Charles Caldwell and Jack Caldwell.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, April 25, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home, 228 S. Pleasant Valley Road, Winchester.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Clay Knick officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery, 1941 Macedonia Church Road, White Post.
Pallbearers will be Clyde Francis Ritchie, Joshua David Rossi, Hannah Rossi Fletcher, Brianna Caldwell Rossi, Zachary Scott Fletcher and Robert Aaron Caldwell.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to CCAP of Winchester, 112 S. Kent Street, Winchester, VA 22601, Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601 or ABBA Pregnancy Center, 200 Weems Lane, Winchester, VA 22601.
