Obituary for Virginia Dare "Gin" Thompson (Sharpe)

On the afternoon of November 17, 2016, Virginia passed away at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident earlier that day. Virginia was 83 years old.

Virginia Thompson was born in Washington D.C., October 23, 1933. She was the third child, of the late Lillian and Glenn Sharpe.

Virginia was widowed at a young age and was a career employee with the Fairfax County School Board. She leaves behind a wide range of professional and personal friends and colleagues. She moved to Winchester in retirement and was a fixture at the Library, Senior Wellness Center and around town.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Sterling L. Thompson and brother Glenn Sharpe Jr.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Sharon Barry; sister, Mary Lee Kent and her nieces Peggy Humphrey and Joan Black and their families.

Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials can be donated in Virginia’s name to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, National WWII Museum or any other pet related charity.
