Jeanette L. DeLoatche, 91, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 13, 2016 in Winchester, VA.
Jeanette Liverman was born, in Murfreesboro, NC, on April 18, 1925, the daughter of Joseph A. and Annie B. Liverman.
On June 2, 1946, Jeanette married Howard W. DeLoatche in Murfreesboro, NC. Howard preceded her in death on September 22, 2009.
Jeanette is survived by her son, William DeLoatche, her daughter-in-law, Ger, of Tampa, FL, her daughter, Donna DeLoatche Carper of Berryville, VA, her grandchildren: Jonathan Doyle, Joseph Doyle (Page), Christina Carper, Amanda Klayum (Todd), Matthew DeLoatche (Kendall), Brittany Shumaker (Ian), her ten great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Jeanette was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Bill E. Carper on Feb. 6, 2016, her five brothers, her three sisters and a niece, who was like a sister.
Jeanette graduated as Valedictorian from Murfreesboro High School, where she sang high soprano in numerous operettas. She received a full scholarship to Shenandoah Conservatory of Music, over twenty years before it located to Winchester, VA. Because of WWII, she chose to forego college to remain in Murfreesboro, NC to work as a bank teller. She became engaged to Howard within a few weeks of his returning home at the end of the War, Jeanette made it her life’s calling to create a Christian home.
Jeanette was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 58 years. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School until she was 89 years old, served on practically every church committee, served as every officer in the Women’s Missions Union, and taught in Summer Bible School for many years. Serving God was her highest passion. She had a special quiet time when she read her bible and prayed daily until the day she joined her Lord.
Her funeral service will be in the Chapel of Jones Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2016 with Reverend Michael Moore and Reverend Michael Blitch conducting the service. Pallbearers will be: Jonathan Doyle, Joseph Doyle, Matthew DeLoatche, Todd Klayum, Jordan Doyle, Bryce Carper-Walther, Ryan Doyle and Richard Coates. Honorary Pallbearers will be William Holbrook and Bobby Tucker.
The family will receive friends immediately prior to the service from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Calvary Baptist Church, Alma Hunt Missions Offering, 844 Amherst Street, Winchester, VA 22601; Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607; or to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Winchester, VA 22601.
Bill and Donna wish to sincerely thank the staff of Hilltop House Home for Adults for the excellent, loving care provided to their mother. And, they express their abiding gratitude to the wonderful individuals who were her cherished friends in Calvary Baptist Church and in Hilltop House.
