Obituary for Phillip Ray "Phil" Racey Sr.
Phillip Ray Racey, Sr., “Phil”, 67, of Winchester, VA passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Racey was born August 7, 1949 in Winchester, VA; the son of the late Stuart Wilson and Ruth Elizabeth Wisecarver Racey.
He served in the US Airforce from 1969-1973 and was the owner of Choice Custodial Service. He was a member of the Plymouth Owners Club and an avid reader; whether it is auto restoration or memory lane publications he enjoyed them all. Phil enjoyed car shows, antique shops, spending time with his family and his beloved cat, Mosby.
He married Gail Linaburg Racey on August 23, 1980 in Winchester, VA.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Christina Michelle King (Brian), of Inwood, WV; his son, Phillip Ray Racey, Jr. (fiancé, Chelsea) of Broad Run, VA; three grandchildren, Kristopher King (Laura) of Winchester, Cody King, and Corey King both of Inwood; and a great grandchild on the way. He is also survived by three brothers, Wilson Cleo Racey (Mary) of Mount Storm, WV, Paul Stuart Racey (Joy) of Capon Bridge, WV, and Roger Lee Racey of Winchester and his nephew/second son, Marty Racey of Winchester.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 1, at 2:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in honor of Phillip, to the Esther Boyd Animal Shelter, 161 Fort Collier Rd, Winchester, VA 22603 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
