Arthur Lee "Buddy"  Dunlap Jr.
Mr. Arthur Lee “Buddy” Dunlap, Jr. 76, of Winchester, VA passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Blue Ridge Hospice In Patient Care Center.
Buddy was born on January 4, 1939 in Winchester; the son of Arthur and Margaret Dunlap. He graduated from John Handley High School in 1957. After graduating from VA Tech, Class of 1961, with a bachelor degree in Math and Science he served with the US Army and worked for the National Security Agency. He then went to work for Nationwide Insurance in Winchester for forty-seven years and was a top producer for Nationwide.
On December 7, 1963 he married Ann Helfrich. They were married for fifty- two years.
As a civic leader in Winchester he served as President of the Rotary Club from 1987-1988 and Assistant Governor in the district from 1995-1996. For most of his adult life Buddy served in many capacities for the Winchester Apple Blossom festival and was president from 1991-1992.
Surviving Buddy are his wife, Ann Dunlap; daughter, Ann Margaret Dunlap Aycrigg, and husband, Ben, of Denver, CO; son, Arthur Lee Dunlap, III and wife, Amy, of Montgomery, OH and four grandchildren, Patrick Arthur Dunlap, Thomas Trae Dunlap, Mason Lee Dunlap and Lucy Kate Dunlap.
Buddy lived a caring, loving and outgoing life touching everyone he came across.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Jones Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Jones Funeral Home with officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hebron Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Buddy’s life and as Buddy would say “Keep on Keeping on”!
