Obituary for Gretchen Vandoren Orndorff (Fritts)
Gretchen VanDoren Fritts Orndorff, 71, of Winchester, VA died Saturday, August
29, 2015 at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center.
She was born November 18, 1943 in Shenandoah, VA; the daughter of Robert L.
and May VanDoren Fritts. She graduated from John Handley High School in
1962. She was a bookkeeper for Lyle P. Strosnider, Inc. She will be forever
remembered for her love to read and passion for Bingo.
Gretchen married Edward Nelson Orndorff on February 2, 1963 in Winchester.
Along with her husband, Eddie, she is survived by a daughter, Leslie M. Orndorff;
a granddaughter, Tiera Destiny Alford and a sister, Robin Fritts Palmer all of
Winchester; 16 nieces and nephews, 23 great nieces and nephews and 3 great
great nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by a brother, William Arthur Fritts; 1 niece and 1 great
nephew.
A memorial service will held Tuesday, September 8 th at 11:00 a.m. at the Jones
Funeral home with Pastor Charles L. Jarrett officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork
Street, Winchester, VA 22601.
