Obituary for Harry Franklin Edmonds

Harry Franklin Edmonds, 75, of Winchester, formerly of Berryville, Va., and Mount Hope, W.Va., died Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at his home.
Born Sept. 1, 1939, in Mount Hope, W.Va., Mr. Edmonds was the son of the late Roy and Alma Edmonds of Mount Hope.
Harry married Joyce Hurd, daughter of the late Amos and Virgie Gibson Hurd of Mount Hope, on July 10, 1964, in Arlington, Va.
Harry retired in December 2000 from Sears Automotive in Bethesda, Md., where he worked for 32 years as an auto technician.
Harry attended Berryville Presbyterian Church and was a friend of the Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce of 50 years; two daughters, Amy D. Hale (Ronnie) of Manassas, Va., and Lisa D. Barber (Brian) of Berryville, Va.; six grandchildren, Jennifer Doyle of Manassas Va.; Michelle Mortensen (Dave) of Jacksonville, N.C.; Brian Doyle of Centreville, Va.; Brandon Phillips, Kyle Phillips and Matthew Barber, all of Berryville, Va.; three great- grandchildren, Briahna Ribble, Jaxon Doyle and Taren Doyle; a brother, Don Wright (Edith) of Orange County, Va.; a sister, Barbara L. Roehling of Sterling, Va., and a host of very special nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. on Monday, April 6, 2015, at Berryville Presbyterian Church, 123 West Main St., Berryville, Va., with the Rev. Jonathan Bunker officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church. A reception will follow in fellowship hall of the church. Private burial services will be at Mount Hebron Cemetery in Winchester, Va.
Pallbearers will be Brian Doyle, Kyle Phillips, Brandon Phillips, Jacob Buckman, Dave Mortensen and Newton “Tink” Hurd. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Barber and Glen Hurd.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial contributions be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork St., Winchester, Va. 22601.
