Obituary for Erma Marie Patterson

Erma Marie Patterson
The earthly journey of Erma Marie Patterson ended on Monday, June 13, 2016 at the age of 88, where she lived in Palm Coast, Florida. She was born in Luray, Virginia on October 1, 1927; the daughter of the late Reuben Monroe Sours and Mary Belle Sours. She left home at an early age and relocated to Winchester, Virginia. She was widowed by her first husband, Donald Rudolph, of 4 months in February 1945. She married her husband Julian Lee Patterson on June 26, 1948. They were married for 63 years until she was again widowed in 2011.
Julian and Erma had a son and daughter and lived their lives almost exclusively in Winchester and its surrounding area. Erma worked outside the home in her youth only for a few short periods obeying the wishes of her husband to stay at home and tend the house and raise their children, to which she devoted herself. Erma was relocated to Florida after the passing of her husband, Julian.
Erma is survived by her daughter, Nancy Garner; and son, Julian L. Patterson Jr. She is survived, as well, by two granddaughters, Jennifer Cook and Michelle Dellaripa; a grandson, Julian L. Patterson, III; and three great grandchildren, Daniel, Brandon, and Allyson Rohrbaugh. She was also preceded in death by six brothers, Leo Carson Sours, Cecil Sours, Garland Sours, Arthur Cleveland Sours, Roy Benton Sours, and Kirby Lee Sours and her sister, Iva Marie Winsboro.
There will be a graveside service on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel where she will be interred next to her husband.
