Hilda Olinger Turner, 98, died September 1, 2018 while a resident and being lovingly cared for at Evergreen Health and Rehab. Mrs. Turner was born August 21, 1920 daughter of the late George Henry Olinger and Maggie Branner Olinger of New Market, Virginia.
She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Winchester for over 60 years, active member of the Philia Class, Adult Choir and an original member of the Singing Seniors Choir. She was actively involved as a volunteer in the Winchester Medical Center Auxiliary, Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), Women of the Moose, over 50s Square Dance Group, and always eager to volunteer her time for visitations to sick and shut-in family and friends.
She retired from Harris Intertype in 1984.
She is survived by her two sons, Jerry (wife, Phyllis) of Hedgesville, WV and Danny of Winchester; four grandsons, Jeff (wife, Lynn), Greg (wife, Virginia), Travis and Justin; four great-grandchildren, Brendan, Natalie, Lacey, and Ainsley; lovingly devoted nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
She was proceeded in death by her parents and her husband, Edwin. She is the last of her siblings; one brother, George and 4 sisters, Mary Francis, Marie, Jennette and Lena.
Her family will receive friends at the Jones Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Winchester on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. with Rev Dr. Kristin Whitesides officiating. Burial will be private at Green Hill Cemetery in Stephen City, VA. Pallbearers will be from among her grandsons and nephews.
