Obituary for Richard Emmons "Dick" Crane

Richard (Dick) Emmons Crane, 81, of White Post, VA, died April 1, 2019, at Winchester Medical Center.
He was born November 29, 1937 in Somerville, NJ, the son of Howard K. and Irene T. Crane.
Dick married Gail Patricia Ralston April 2, 1960 in Somerville, NJ.
He is survived by his wife Gail, four children: Richard E. Crane Jr of White Post VA, Keith D. Crane and his wife Lisa of Ashburn VA, Jonathan S. Crane and his wife Sheila of Sarasota FL, and Kevin M. Crane of Madill OK, twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Dick is also survived by his brother Donald S. Crane and his wife Estelle of Parsippany NJ and preceded in death by three sisters: Helen Crane Bolyard, Emily “Angell” Yost, and Irene Crane Philipsheck, six brothers: Kenneth V. Crane, Robert M. Crane, Howard K. Crane, Douglas M. Crane, Edward W. Crane, and William Crane.
Dick was a member and past President of the Winchester Host Lions Club, he volunteered with the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival and First Night Winchester. One of Dick’s passions was to be an elf during the Christmas season each year. He was also an avid fan and lover of Chick-fil-A.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Opequon Presbyterian Church in Winchester VA. A Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00 am at the church with Pastor David Witt and Parish Associate Tracy Martin officiating. It will be followed by a luncheon and all are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, Dick’s preference was for memorial gifts to be made to Opequon Presbyterian Church, 217 Opequon Church Lane, Winchester, VA 22602; or Winchester Host Lions Club, Inc. 424 Hoist Hite Place, Winchester, VA 22601.
