Obituary for Mona Lee Unger

Mona Lee Unger, 73, of Winchester, went to be with the Lord on March 20, 2010.
She was born April 14, 1936 in Martinsburg, WV, the daughter of Paul Irvin Unger and Evelyn V. May Unger Miller and stepdaughter of Ray Miller who are deceased.
She loved going to church, reading, watching TV, listening to music and visiting with friends and family. She knew the answers on game shows before the contestants. She had a great memory and a straightforward personality. She knew her Bible and loved the Lord and was confident and comforted in the knowledge that she would be welcomed by Him.
For the past two and a half years, she lived a happy and comfortable life at the Wisecarver home on Woodland Avenue, under the loving care of Bunny and Brenda. During this time she was visited by and taken to church and special church events by her caring church family at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ on Merriman’s Lane, where she was a member. Family and friends would also visit and take her to medical appointments, shopping and out to lunch. For the past eight years, she entrusted her well being to Jim "Denny" and Debbie Haymaker of Bunker Hill, WV. During her battle with cancer, she was given special care by her Blue Ridge Hospice nurse, April, family therapist, Christine and aid, Mary, as well as the doctors and everyone at Hospice.
She is survived by a niece, Jan Sweet of Sault St. Marie, MI; two nephews, Chuck Typinski of Milan, IL and Steve Typinski of Detroit, MI; two cousins, Rick Stanley and Tom Stanley of Martinsburg, WV and an uncle, Donald Hammond in FL.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Typinski.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home.
A service will be held on Tuesday, March 23, at 11:00 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Rob Lovett and Rev. Joan Rainsberger officiating. She will be laid to rest at Rosedale Cemetery in Martinsburg, WV.
Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Winchester, VA 22601
