Shirley June Burkhart, 82, of Winchester, Virginia, died Friday at
Winchester Medical Center.
She was born June 18, 1936 in Frederick County, VA, the daughter of
George and Nina Giffin. She worked as a caregiver for many years at a
local nursing home.
She enjoyed the company of her family and spent much time with her
grandchildren.
Shirley married Donald Ephraim Burkhart in 1972 in Winchester, VA.
She is survived by her husband Donald, six children: Daniel (Diana) Fauver
of Toms Brook, VA, Susan Cook, (Charles) of Clear Brook, VA, Raymond (Annette)
Fauver Jr. of Winchester, VA, Terry (Darlene) Fauver, of Winchester, VA,
Anthony (Chantelle) Burkhart, of Capon Bridge, WV and Kevin (Rhonda)
Burkhart of Capon Bridge, WV, four siblings, Grover Giffin of Winchester,
Louise Ritenour of Winchester, Betty Haines of Stephens City, VA, and
Patsy Hiett of Winchester, thirteen grandchildren and ten great
grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by three brothers: Roy Giffin, George ‘Buddy’
Giffin, and Donald Giffin, and sisters Lucille Mellon and Colleen Wood.
The family will receive friends Monday evening February 11, 2019 form
6:00- 8:00 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in Winchester. A funeral will
be held Tuesday February 12, 2019 at1:00 p.m. at Shenandoah Memorial
Park with Rev. Bob Osborne officiating.
