Obituary for Dale Richard Peterson
Dale R. Peterson, 86, of Winchester, formerly of Martinsburg, WV, died Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at his home.
Mr. Peterson was born July 2, 1931, in Britton, SD; the son of the late Gotfred and Henrietta Ramussen Peterson. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He owned and operated Peterson’s Car Wash and Dairy Queen Restaurants. Mr. Peterson had been involved with Dairy Queen for 60 years in 8 different states. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, was past president of the Church Counsel at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Martinsburg. He was a member of Northeastern Store Owners Association. He was honored as the Berkeley County Citizen of the Year. He was an avid Martinsburg Bulldogs fan and an avid card player.
He married Donna M. Peterson on May 5, 1956 in Fargo, ND.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Roger Dale Peterson and his wife Kathleen of Staunton, VA and Vicki Peterson Sellers and her husband Kendall of Stephens City, VA; seven grandchildren, J.R. Barrett, Laura Harrell and her husband, Stephen, Kiersten Cohen and her husband, Brian, Miranda Dockeney, E. Jameson Sellers, Christine Sellers, and Sasha Sellers; two great grandchildren, Ashton Robb Barrett and Kinsleigh Grace Rock; two brothers and one sister. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel at The Village at Orchard Ridge.
