Obituary for Martha Shade "Mimi" Boyles (Shade)

Martha S. Boyles, 97 of Winchester, died Monday, May 14, 2018 at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center.

Mrs. Boyles was born July 13, 1920 in Reidville, SC; the daughter of the late Wilmer and Lucia Teasley Shade.

She graduated from John Handley High School in 1938. She was a secretary at First Presbyterian Church for twenty-five years before her retirement in 1981. She also worked as a cost clerk for O’Sullivan for seventeen years. Mrs. Boyles was a member of Fort Loudoun Chapter Daughters of American Revolution, Winchester Women of the Moose, Shenandoah Smockers and Needle Arts Guild and a past member of Business and Professional Women and Winchester Civic League. She joined First Presbyterian Church in 1931 and except for eleven years after re-marrying and living in Florida was a member for life. In her early years she taught Sunday School, helped in the Church Nursery, and was active as Circle Chairman in the Women of the Church and Kitchen

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Lynn Dailey of Harrisonburg, VA; step sons, Stephen Ridings (Barbara) of Durham, NC and William Boyles (Wanda) of Richmond, VA; grandson, Robert L. Dailey (Marcia) of Winchester; granddaughter, Elisabeth Dailey of Winchester and great grandchildren, Jadyn Dailey, Jayse Dailey, Joah Dailey, Michael Malinsky, Ethan Malinsky and Jacob Greene.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Robert B. Wheeler, second husband, Roland B. Ridings and last husband, Charles W. Boyles.

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with a Celebration of Life following at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ron Obenchain officiating.
