Obituary for Vernon E Kirby

Vernon E  Kirby
Vernon Edward Kirby, 93, of Winchester, Virginia died Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at his home.
Vernon was born on May 29, 1924 in Forrestville, VA; the son of the late Vernon Richard Kirby and Edna White Kirby. He married Esther Shade Kirby on July 4, 1964 in Winchester.
Mr. Kirby was a veteran of World War ll, serving in the United States Navy in the Asiatic – Pacific Theatre. He retired from Abex Federal – Mogul Motorparts as a production supervisor. He was a member of Braddock Street UMC, a life Member of the Winchester Moose Lodge 1283, Life Member of VFW Post 2123, and the Fraternal Order of the Police.
He is survived by his sons, Roger Kirby (Kim), Gary Chrisman (Martha) both of Winchester; his brother, Richard Kirby of Timberville, VA; sisters, Helen Day, Charlotte Wilkins, Arlene Wissem, Florine Silvious and Norma Jean Polk, all of Woodstock, VA; grandchildren, Nicholas Kirby (Jessica), Joshua Kirby (Annessa), Mindy Sharp (Scott), Sarah Walrath (Seth), Eric Chrisman (Sarah), Ashley Kirby, Jason Kirby and Matthew Kirby (Chelsea) and ten great grandchildren.
Vernon is preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Dunlap Kirby, his second wife, Esther Shade Kirby; a son, Gregory Kirby; a daughter, Beverly Kirby; a brother and six sisters.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Jones Funeral Home in Winchester.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 3, at Jones Funeral Home with Rev. W. Anthony Layman officiating. Burial will follow in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be grandsons; Eric Chrisman, Josh Kirby, Jason Kirby, Matt Kirby, Nick Kirby, Scott Sharp, Seth Walrath and nephew, Carroll Youngblood.
