Obituary for Martha Elizabeth Forney Grim (Forney)

Martha Elizabeth Forney  Grim (Forney)
Martha Elizabeth Forney Grim, 100, died Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Grim was born December 31, 1916 in Winchester; the daughter of George William Forney and Ethel Johnson Forney. She was a graduate of John Handley High School, Class of 1934, and attended George Washington University in Washington, DC.
She married Robert Marshall Grim on September 6, 1936. Mr. Grim preceded her in death on January 21, 1965.
Mrs. Grim served as Voter Registrar for the City of Winchester from January 1, 1963 to January 1, 1996. Also, she was appointed a Justice of the Peace in January 1965. She served as a Deputy Clerk of the Corporation Court of the City of Winchester from 1965 to 1974. She was a life-long member of Centenary Reformed United Church of Christ, serving as Deacon, Elder, was on the Board of Trustees and also taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir.
She is survived by three sons, Robert M. “Joe” Grim, Jr. of Baltimore, MD, Thomas Scott Grim of Winchester, and David B. Grim of Winchester; five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William Charles Forney and Richard Davis Forney.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barbara Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Centenary Reformed United Church of Christ, 202 S. Cameron Street, Winchester, VA 22601.
