Obituary for Edith Joyce "Edie" Akenson (Pearson)
Edith Joyce Akenson, “Edie”, 88, of Winchester passed away peacefully Friday, December 15, 2017.
Edie was born October 12, 1929, in Richmond, VA the daughter of the late Clarence and Beatrice Southard Pearson. She worked as a photo tech for Color Fax Lab in Silver Spring, MD until her retirement in 1979.
She married Lester P. Akenson June 16, 1978 in Rockville, MD. He preceded her in death, February 8, 1999.
Edie is survived by her two sons, Gary Menso and his wife Pam of Yulee, FL and John Menso and his wife Barbara of Montgomery Village, MD; a step daughter, Mary Harshey and her husband Curt of Brown Summit, NC; her sister June Patterson of Cabins, WV; two brothers, Robert Pearson of Richmond, VA and Mickey Pearson and his wife Mary Ann of Mt. Airy, MD; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and her two best friends, Esther Jones and Pat Reno and her husband Raymond.
She is preceded in death by her son, William Menso and brother, Clarence Pearson.
She will be placed by her husband in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Central United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 337, Libertytown, MD 21762.
