Eugene Andrew “Gene” Laird, 84, of Port Orange, FL formerly of Winchester, VA passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019 in Halifax Health Hospice, Port Orange, FL.
He was born on December 26, 1934 in Winchester; the son of Kenneth J. and Pauline L. Anderson Laird. He served with the US Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. Gene was a Production Supervisor at ABEX Corporation until hjs retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Winchester Moose Lodge #1283 and the V.F.W. of Martinsburg, WV.
Gene married June Gale “Sissy” DeHaven on November 26, 1955 in Kernstown, VA. She preceded him in death on July 28. 2001. Gene spent his last fifteen years with his loving companion Myrtle “Cuss” Rouch.
He is survived by two sons, Terry E. Laird, Sr. (Carly) of Stephens City, VA and Brian A. Laird (Lynne)of Winchester; six grandchildren, Terry, Jr., Alexandra, Kierstan, Kimberly, Erica, and Evan; and several great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 in the Mausoleum Chapel at Shenandoah Memorial Park with Rev. Sean Devolites officiating.
