Obituary for William McKinley "Bill" Vipperman

William “ Bill” McKinley Vipperman, Sr. , 78, of Winchester, VA, died Sunday, December 27, 2009 at a local nursing home.

He was born November 15, 1931 in Glade Spring, VA; the son of Delbert Earl and Bessie Mae Orr Vipperman. He served as a Staff Sergent with the US Marines during the Korean Conflict and later with the US Marine Corp Reserve. He was a life member of the Naval Masonic Lodge #4, F.A.A.M. District of Columbia. Bill was an Electrical Engineer for PEPCO until his retirement.

He married Joan Adams Vipperman on June 4, 1955 in Washington D.C. They were married for 54 years.

Along with his wife Joan of Winchester, he is survived by three daughters, Mary K. Vipperman of Winchester, Donna Marie Walter and her husband, Joe, of Winchester and Linda Lee Glaze and her husband, Eddie, of Manassas, VA; one son, William M. Vipperman, Jr. and his wife, Melissa, of Sterling, VA; eleven grandchildren, Andy Vipperman, Daniel Vipperman, Ashby Vipperman, Valerie Walter, Cory Walter, Kimberly Walter, Joanna Branning, Lauren Weaver, Tim Glaze, Jessica Vipperman and William M. Vipperman, III; one nephew, Scott Vasbinder and six Great Grandchildren.


A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George H. Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hebron Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Vipperman, Ashby Vipperman, Cory Walter, Tim Glaze, William Vipperman, III and Scott Vasbinder.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 " 11:00 a.m.
