Obituary for Benjamin Mitchell Knight Jr.
Benjamin Mitchell Knight, Jr., 82, of Winchester, died Sunday, December 16, 2018.
Mr. Knight, the son of the late Dr. Benjamin Mitchell Knight and Gladys Gillet Knight, was born May 11, 1936 in Winchester. He attended Blue Ridge Country Day School (Powhatan) in Boyce, VA and was a graduate of the Patterson School in Lenoir, NC. Mr. Knight retired from Grocer’s Wholesale and Safeway Store. Mr. Knight was active in the Jaycees of Winchester, the Shawnee Lions Club, the Exchange Club, and the Izaak Walton League. He was also a regular blood donor to the American Red Cross for many years.
He is survived by his daughter, Caroline Rennie Knight Earhart (Chad), two grandsons, Dalton Alan Earhart and Hayden Michael Earhart, all of Frederick County; and two sisters, Susan Knight Arthur of Winchester and Charlotte Knight Martin of Eastchester, NY and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester with Rev. Steve Melester officiating. Burial will be private in the Knight family lot at Mount Hebron Cemetery.
