Dennis Ray “Denny” Hinkle, 74, of Winchester, VA passed away Monday, October 22, 2018 at Winchester Medical Center.
Denny was born in Riverside, California on August 20, 1944, son of Ray Jr. and Vivian Wilson Hinkle. He graduated from John Handley High School in 1964 and was inducted into the Judges Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1995. He retired from General Motors in 2006 after 38 years of service. He was a member of Market Street United Methodist Church. Denny loved sports, particularly football and golf and spent countless hours on the links with his golf buddy, Charlie Glover. He enjoyed time with his family, especially family vacations, and traveling in general.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Karen Shull Hinkle, his daughter, Jean Stewart (Jimmy); three grandchildren, Evan Hinkle (Morgan), Hannah Stewart and Philip Stewart; great grandson, Camden Jeffery Hinkle, his mother, Vivian Hinkle; his brother, Monte D. Hinkle (Dorothy) and his sister, Linda Hinkle Rose.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Hinkle.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. October 25, 2018 at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Keiko Foster officiating.
