Obituary for Charles Thorvald Thomas Jr.

Charles Thorvald Thomas, Jr., 78, of Winchester, Virginia passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the Winchester Medical Center, surrounded by family.
Charles is survived by his wife of 55 years, Audrey, as well as his 2 daughters, Jennifer L. Hudders (Wayne) of Fairfax, Virginia and Suzanne N. Herring of Front Royal, Virginia and four grandchildren, Nicholas G Herring and Austin W. Herring of Front Royal, Virginia and R. Stone Hudders and Emily C. Hudders of Fairfax, Virginia.
A sister Ann I. Connell, preceded him in death.
Charles was born on October 26, 1939 in Washington, D. C.; the son of Charles T. Thomas, Sr. and Irene Alma McLeod Thomas. He was raised in Baltimore, Maryland and graduated from Milford Mill High School. He received his BS from Acadia University in Nova Scotia, Canada where he played basketball and had the amazing good fortune to meet the love of his life, Audrey Charlotte Farris. They were married on September 21, 1963 in Deer Island, New Brunswick, Canada. He resided in Fairfax, Virginia until 2002 when they moved to Winchester, Virginia.
Charles spent the majority of his career working for the Xerox Corporation at their Training Center in Leesburg, Virginia where he was the Manager of Systems and Communications until his retirement in 1998. He was an active member of Burnt Factory United Methodist Church where he was Chair of the Building Committee for the recent renovations of the church. Charles was also a member of the Plane Crazy RCers Club in Winchester.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at 2pm at Burnt Factory United Methodist Church, 1943 Jordan Springs Rd, Stephenson, VA 22656.
