Obituary for John B. Lauterbach

John Brice Lauterbach, 82, of Winchester, Virginia, died Monday, September 3, 2018 at his home.
John was born October 20, 1935 in Reistertown, Maryland, the son of William A. and Beatrice Shipley Lauterbach. He graduated from Franklin High School, class of 1953. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953-1957. After his tour of duty in the Navy he moved to Middleburg, VA to manage Dinwiddie Farm for 15 years, he then went on to learn different phases of construction and in 1993 he started a small trailer repair business Trailer Care Inc. in Hamilton, VA. During those years as farm manager and construction work he became interested in horses and the Rodeo. It lead John to 20 years of riding the Rodeo circuit : calf roping & steer wrestling and helped produce the rodeos for a very dear friend, Kenny Brown who has already passed on.
John married Charlotte Wilson Thompson, September 5, 1992 at the Ashburn Presbyterian Church in Ashburn VA.
Mr. Lauterbach is survived by his wife, Charlotte, three sons from a former marriage, Michael Lauterbach (Ann) of Marshall, VA, David Lauterbach (Loretta) of Linden, VA and Mark Lauterbach (Brittany) of Greenville, NC, a stepdaughter, Victoria Thompson Carr (Kurt) of Bluemont, VA, a sister, Leuvene Merryman, Upperco, MD, seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He considered two employees Matt and John Brown to be sons.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Fred Lauterbach.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the Jones Funeral Home from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. A funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2018 at the Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mount Hebron Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Michael Lauterbach, David Lauterbach, Mark Lauterbach, Matt Brown, John Brown and Devon Carr. Close friends Richard Owens and Richard Brown are honorary pallbearers.
