Melanie Lynne Hilliard, 59, of Winchester, died Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Winchester Medical Center.
Melanie was born February 1, 1959 in Oakland, MD, the daughter of the late Edward Wayne Fratz and Margaret Moulton Dulaney.
Melanie was a graduate of Northern Garrett High School, class of 1977, and attended Garrett College.
She was employed as a Sales Force analyst at REHAU, Inc. for nearly thirty years, and considered them her second family. There was never a day that Mel did not wake up and look forward to sharing the day with her colleagues. She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, and swimming with her children. Skiing and gardening with her twin sister, Steph.
She is survived by her children Catherine “Katie” Bryna Hilliard and Ian Ross Hilliard both of Winchester, her mother Margaret Dulaney and husband Gerald, her twin sister Stephanie McBride (Steve), sisters Faith Sousa (Albert), Linda Mosholder (Charles), Kelley Grove (Ken) and brother Seth Fratz (Jessica), nieces and nephews Brett, Michele, Megan, Sam, Haley, Sophia, Clinton, and Grace, two great-nephews and one great-niece, as well as her former husband and friend, Neil Hilliard.
She was preceded in death by her father Edward Wayne Fratz and step-mother Marjorie Keller Fratz.
The family will receive friends Tuesday August 28, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Jones Funeral Home, Winchester, VA. There will be a funeral service on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home with Pastor Jeffrey Kesner officiating.
