Obituary for James William Cooley
James William Cooley, 91, Roanoke, VA formerly of Winchester, VA passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018.
He was born on February 10, 1927 in Middletown, VA; the son of James R. and Emma Kline Cooley. He was a graduate of Middletown High School and served with the U S. Airforce and worked as the chief of supply at the V A Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV for over thirty years. He was a member of Highland Memorial Presbyterian Church where he ran the food pantry for over twenty years. He was also a member of the American Legion and enjoyed playing softball.
He married his wife of sixty-three years, Charlotte Virginia Hovermale, on July 31, 1954 in Winchester.
Along with his wife, Charlotte, of Roanoke, James is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Circeo and husband, Michael of Roanoke and grandson, Justin Circeo of Roanoke.
He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Cooley; brothers, Courtney Cooley and Howard Cooley and sisters, Mary Jane Colie, Margaret Hancock and Emma Jean Hildebrand.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening, May 7, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Jones Funeral Home with Reverend Kristin Reinhold officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Stephens City.
