Jane B  Thompson (Barnett)
Jane Barnett Thompson, age 80, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center in Winchester, VA. She was born on April 20, 1937 in Winchester to Lynwood H. and Courtney H. Barnett.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her husband of 64 years, William C. Thompson “Bill”; her sons, David C. Thompson and wife, Renee’ of Winchester, and William A. “Tony” Thompson and wife, Paula of Alexandria. Also surviving are grandchildren, Matthew C. Thompson, D. Christopher Thompson and wife, Tove, and Bailey A. Thompson; great-grandchildren, Hunter C. Thompson and Amelia P. Thompson.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents and grandchildren, Elizabeth P. Thompson and William R. Thompson.

Jane was a former member and President of the Jaycee-ettes, member of Lord Fairfax Garden Club, Winchester Exchange Club, Carper’s Valley Ladies Golf League, and Board Member and former Secretary of the Winchester Chapter of the American Cancer Society. She was also currently a member of the WMC Auxillary. In addition, for many years, she was a volunteer for the Reach to Recovery program of the American Cancer Society and for the Hurst Hospitality House and Gift Shop at the Winchester Medical Center.

Jane was a lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church, where she volunteered in the office, the Treasure Box, and taught Sunday school. She was an avid bridge player and painted with her artist friends at Westminster Canterbury for many years.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Christ Episcopal Church in Winchester with Rev. Webster Gibson officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church.
