Obituary for William Ward "Preacher" Wilson

William Ward Wilson “Butch” or “Preacher”, 62, of Winchester, VA, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at his home.

Butch was born November 10, 1954 in Winchester, the son of the late Oather Brown Wilson and Delia Margaret Halterman Wilson. He served his country in the Navy and worked at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.

He is survived by his former wife, Shelby Jean Shoemaker, of Winchester; a son, Clifford N. Wilson and his wife, Wendy, of Winchester; daughters, Brandi Garwood and her husband, Eric, of Naples, FL, Nicole C. Wilson, and Brooke D. Wilson both of Winchester; brothers, James Halterman of Dillsburg, PA and Weldon Wilson of Gerrardstown, WV; sisters, Mary Davis of Winchester, Frances Perkins of Harpers Ferry, WV, Cathy Booth of Berkeley Springs, WV and Carrie Fleming of Winchester; and seven grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City. OK 73123.
