Robert “Bob” Alfred Weidele, 84, of Winchester, VA passed away at his residence in the early hours of Sunday, September 3, 2017.

Bob was born in West Orange, NJ on August 28, 1933, the son of the late Emil and Gertrude Esch Weidele. He graduated from Rutgers University, served in the US Army, stationed in Germany where he played in the Army band. He married Virginia Woodin on October 22, 1960 in Chatham, NJ. She preceded him in death. Bob married Denise Anne McKee on December 24, 1984 in Fairfax, VA, and they eventually settled in Winchester in 1999. Bob worked as a Claims Manager for CIGNA and later at the Inter-American Development Bank. He was a very active member of the Winchester Kiwanis Club, serving on the Board of Directors and as Pancake Ticket Chairman, was a member of the Opequon Presbyterian Church, and played the saxophone in the Yesterday Swing Orchestra, For Dancers Only band, and the Front Royal Community Band.

Bob is survived by his wife, Denise A. Weidele, of Winchester; three sons, Stephen Lum (Joyce) of Kirkland, WA, Kenneth R. Weidele (Kathy) of San Diego, CA, and Geoffrey D. Weidele (Christina) of Richmond, VA; a step-son, Mark J. McKee of Olney, MD; two step-daughters, Merrie M. Philips Duke (Glen) of Severna Park, MD and Kara M. Sullivan (Thomas) of Concord, NC; a brother, Ronald Weidele of Cornelius, NC; thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Weidele, and a sister, Jean Weidele.

A memorial service will be held at Opequon Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 12:00 noon with Pastor David Witt officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow the service in the Opequon Presbyterian Memorial Garden.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Opequon Presbyterian Church, 217 Opequon Church Lane, Winchester, VA, 22602.
