Obituary for William Allen Braithwaite

William A. Braithwaite, 87, of Winchester, died Friday, June 9, 2017 at his home.
Mr. Braithwaite was born August 30, 1929 in Clarke County, VA; the son of Charles and Iva Pearl Braithwaite. He was a truck driver for Alleghany Freight. He was a member of Elks Lodge BPOE 867, Eagles Aerie 824, and the Berryville Moose. He helped to start Little League Baseball in Clarke County. He was a founding member of Greenwood Fire and Rescue.
He married Divona “Bo” Foltz on February 8, 1947. Mrs. Braithwaite preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children, Larry Allen Braithwaite of Winchester, Susie Link of Capon Springs, WV and Penny Star Eastep of Stephens City; two brothers, Harry Braithwaite of Berryville and Charles Braithwaite of Winchester; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two great, great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12-1 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Susan S. MacDonald officiating. Burial will be private.
