Obituary for Maurice Michael "Mike" Atkins Sr.
Maurice Michael Atkins, 63, of Winchester, died Monday, November 7, 2016 at Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Atkins was born June 26, 1953 in Front Royal; the son of Mary Marie Atkins Foster and James Hoover Foster. He was a self- employed carpenter.
He married Sherry Lynn Clark on March 1, 1980 in Front Royal.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his sons, Maurice Michael Atkins, Jr. and his wife Alexandra Arocha-Atkins of Greensboro, NC, Brian Davis Atkins of Winchester and Timothy Wade Atkins and his wife Anne Atkins of Winston-Salem, NC; four sisters, Debra Ball, Christine Foster and Ruth Foster all of Front Royal and Carolyn Bucher of Maurertown, VA; two brothers, Hoover Foster of West Virginia and Charles Foster of Front Royal; and five grandchildren, Tristan Alexander Atkins, Alania Mikayla Atkins, Isaac Timothy Atkins, Elizabeth Anne Atkins and Sydney Lynn Atkins.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester with Pastor Paul Campbell officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be William Lewis, Harold Whitacre, Jr. and Ryan Whittle. Honorary pallbearers will be Hoover Foster, Charles Foster and Randall Trail.
