James “Warden” Jenkins, Jr., 83, of Frederick County, VA passed away at his home on Friday, July 29, 2016.

He was born in Frederick County on April 28, 1933; the son of James W. and Rokie Lockhart Jenkins. He served during the Korean Conflict from 1953-1955. He was self- employed as a plumbing contractor.

Warden was a member of the Korean War Veterans Group, a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and Bethel Lutheran Church, served on the board of Trustees for the St. Thomas Chapel in Middletown, VA, was a devoted Redskins’ fan through the good and the bad and was the women’s softball coach for Trinity Lutheran Church back in the 90’s.

He enjoyed his work and was proud of his profession. He thoroughly enjoyed the companionship of his Korean War Veterans Group. He married Bernetta Mae Zehren Jenkins on May 18, 1957 in Alexandria, VA.

Along with his wife, Bernetta, he is survived by his daughters, Debra Jenkins Garber and her husband, David and their children, Daniel T. Garber and Emily L. Garber of Frederick County and Diann Jenkins Dailey and her husband, Ron of Gore, VA; brothers, Delmar Jenkins and wife, Kathy and Gary Jenkins; sisters, Mary Ellen Thibodeau and husband, Lee, Patricia Armstrong and Janice Hall; sister in law, Betty Jenkins; brother in law, J. R. Nichol; many close friends, nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, his best friend, Max.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Jenkins; sister, Etta Hester Nichol and brother in law, Willis “Sonny” Armstrong.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 5, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home Winchester.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stephens City, VA with Pastor Cameron P. Keyser officiating.
