Thelma Virginia Carver Newlin, 91, of Stephens City, VA, died Saturday, September 15, 2018.
Mrs. Newlin was born August 25, 1927 in Stephens City; the daughter of the late German G. Carver and Susie Neff Carver. She had worked as a manager for Tastee Freeze and Duff’s Rebel Restaurant. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and was an avid Duck Pin bowler.
She married Henkel B. Newlin on May 25, 1946 in Stephens City. Mr. Newlin preceded her in death on March 17, 1987.
She is survived by her children, Sharon A. Hartley and her husband, David of Stephens City, VA, Steven Boyd Newlin and his wife Debbie of Bristol, VA, and Sandra L. Perry and her husband Gregory of Winchester; a brother, Robert Carver of Winchester, VA; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan J. Sirbaugh; four brothers, Earl Carver, Donald Carver, Carlton Carver, and Beverly Carver; one sister, Helen Hege; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester.
A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Mayton officiating. Burial will be private.
