Obituary for Ada Jane Gillespie (Stroupe)
Ada Jane Gillespie, 82, of Strasburg, VA passed away at her home in Greenfield of Strasburg, June 4, 2016.
She was born on December 10, 1933 in Speedwell, VA; the daughter of Charles and Ethel Stroupe.
Ada married Thomas E. Gillespie on August 21, 1951, in Speedwell, VA . He preceded her in death May, 4, 2014.
Ada was a devout housewife and mother to her husband and sons. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and spending time with her family. As a military spouse, Ada had the opportunity of living in Alaska and Germany. While at Greenfield, she participated in many social activities, but she especially enjoyed bingo.
Ada is survived by her four sons; Charles Frank Gillespie of Winchester, VA, Robert Edward Gillespie and Leanne of Dale City, VA, Timothy Douglas Gillespie and Helene of Winchester, VA, and Richard Thomas Gillespie and Janet of Valrico, FL; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held Monday, June 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home, Winchester, with Carol Wille, Blue Ridge Hospice Chaplain officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Burial will follow at Quantico National Cemetery at 2:00p.m. where she will be placed by her loving Thomas.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made In Memory of Ada Gillespie to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Winchester, VA 22601.
