Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Gardner Pierce can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Gardner William Pierce Jr.

Gardner William  Pierce Jr.
Gardner William Pierce Jr., known as Bill, beloved husband of Jane Evangeline Pierce, and father to Allen Thomas Pierce, was born May 25, 1924 in Martinsburg, WV, died Friday, March 18, 2016. Bill graduated from Martinsburg High School, where he was a star football player. Bill joined the Marines and fought in the South Pacific campaign during WWII, and upon return married the love of his life, Jane in 1945. He graduated Shepherd College (now Shepherd University) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1952. They lived most of their married years in Fairfax, VA, and then moved to Winchester, VA, where he died at the age of 91 at Village of Orchard Ridge. Bill who is survived by his wife Jane, his son Allen and daughter-in-law Rose, has four grandchildren, Michael Pierce, Scott Pierce, Lisa Rector and Robert Tichi, along with nine great grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received at Jones Funeral Home, 228 S. Pleasant Valley Road, Winchester, VA, on Monday evening, March 21, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church, 2077 North Frederick Pike, Winchester, VA, on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon following the service. Family and Friends are invited to attend a burial service in Rosedale Cemetery, 917 Cemetery Road, Martinsburg, WV, 25404, at 3:00 p.m. following the luncheon.
