Donald Stewart  Jennings
Donald “Jay” Stewart Jennings, 78, of Winchester, VA passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Jay was born on August 16, 1937 in Washington, D.C.; the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jennings. He was a United States Army veteran and retired from the Frederick County Sanitation Authority after 37 Years. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, the Winchester Eagles #824, VFW Post 2123, American Legion #021, Winchester Moose Lodge #1283, and the Terrace Club. After his retirement, Jay became an active volunteer with the Hospital Auxiliary Attic and The Salvation Army, as well as a tax volunteer with AARP.
Jay is survived by his children, Mary Jennings Sowers of Winchester, VA, Christopher S. Jennings, and wife Tonya of Clear Brook, VA and Michael D. Jennings, and wife Shelley of Winter Park, FL, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. His wife, Evelyn Ann Barb Jennings and brother, Stewart Jennings preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home and Crematory, Winchester.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Ste 405, Winchester, VA 22601.
