Obituary for Patricia Anne Thompson

Patricia Anne “Pat” Carper Thompson, 80, of Winchester, VA, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2015 in the Winchester Medical Center.
Born January 31, 1935 in Winchester, she was the daughter of the late Elwood “Smokey” and Bessie Lewis Carper.
She graduated from John Handley High School in 1954. She married the late John Lewis Thompson on August 20, 1954 at the First Baptist Church in Winchester.
Mrs. Thompson was an employee with the local school systems for over 23 years; most of which she worked at Daniel Morgan Middle School. She was a friend to many and her love for the Winchester area was very apparent.
She is survived by three sons, John “Jack” L. Thompson, Jr. and his wife, Carolyn, of Silver Spring, MD, Phillip “Craig” Thompson and Tyler L. Thompson both of Winchester; a sister, Sandra Carper Forrest of Frederick, MD and five grandsons, Matt Thompson, Ryan Thompson, Kevin Thompson and wife, Katrina, Jack Thompson and Julian Thompson.
She was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters.
Her family would like to thank the nursing staff at Lynn Care center of Front Royal for their professional and compassionate care over the past two years and to the medical staff of the CCU and Comfort Care units at Winchester Medical Center for their attentive caring nature.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening, June 25, 2015 at Jones Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2015 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Charles Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hebron Cemetery.
