Russell Edgar  Rhinehardt
Russell E. Rhinehardt, 90, of Winchester, VA, passed away Friday, September 15, 2017 at a local nursing home.
Russell was born March 22, 1927 in Ashville, NC to Stephen J. and Martha Atwell Rhinehardt. The family moved to Winchester in 1932, where he attended Handley High School. He served in the Marines from 1944 to 1951. Russell worked at Huntsberry’s while attending Radio School in Washington, D.C. He was owner and television technician of The Zenith Center. He owned a restaurant, called Waffle Shop. He worked at Capital Records and drove for Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging and security guard for several places around Winchester. Russell was a member of the American Legion Post 21, and Braddock Street United Methodist Church. He loved talking about the war, playing bingo, horses and smoking his pipe outdoors with friends, relatives and strangers.
He married Emma Jane Presgraves on July 14, 1953 in Hagerstown, MD. Emma preceded him in death on November 8, 2008.
Russell is survived by his son, Stephen Rhinehardt, and wife Tammy, of Clear Brook, VA; two daughters, Pam Barret, and husband Carl, of Winchester, VA and Patty Carter, and partner Kenny Strother of Stephens City, VA; six grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife Emma and a step brother, Richard Comer.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home, with Rev. Kirk Nave officiating. Pallbearers will be Steve Rhinehardt, Carl Barrett, Kenny Strother, David Barrett, Adam Carter and Eddy Turner. There will be a one hour visitation prior to service. Burial will be private.
