Dorothy Fahnestock  Carper

Dorothy Fahnestock Carper, 91, of Stephens City, formerly of Winchester, joined loved ones in heaven on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at her home.
Mrs. Carper was born December 21, 1926 in Frederick County, VA; the daughter of the late Rev. Cephas Fahnestock and Sarah “Sallie” Butler Fahnestock. She had worked at Capitol Records.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leslie Anvick Carper, son Phillip Anvick Carper, and granddaughter Grace Elizabeth Austin.
She is survived by daughters, Sarah Johnson, Becky Austin Cregger and son in law Donald Cregger. Also surviving are grandchildren, Gwynne Austin Green Warren and husband, Joe, Charles Edward Johnson, Claire Austin Jacobsen and husband, Landon, and Harrison Butler Austin; great grandchildren, Reagan Mae and Connor Joe Anvick Green, Cameron, Joseph, and Payton Warren; Makenna, Taylor, and Wyatt Paul Jacobsen. She is also survived by a brother, David Fahnestock and two sisters, Betty Hardesty and Mary F. Lowery. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Daniel ,Randolph, Ray, Reuben, Paul and Robert Fahnestock; and three sisters, Isabelle Yeakley, Frances Luttrell and Margaret Childs.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 12-1 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Red Bird Mission, 54 Queendale Center, Beverly, Kentucky 40913 or to American Red Cross, 561 Fortress Drive, Winchester, VA 22603.
