Holmes C. Linaburg
Holmes C. Linaburg, of Brucetown, VA, died Friday, November 16, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. Linaburg was born December 24, 1916, in Frederick County, VA, the son of the late Howard Linaburg and the late Nellie Carpenter Linaburg. He married Mary Catherine Ashbyin 1936 in Hagerstown, MD. She preceded him in death on November 19, 1996.
Holmes retired from Dowell J. Howard as a maintenance mechanic in 1981. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as an aircraft gunner. After the war, he worked for Clearbrook Woolen Mill until 1971. He was a member of Brucetown United Methodist Church.
He is survived by one brother, Ralph Linaburg of Winchester, VA and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Linaburg was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Schuller; and two brothers, Boyd Linaburg, Earl Linaburg and Nelson Linaburg.
The family will receive friends and family on Friday, Nov. 23 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jones funeral home.
A funeral service will be held Saturday Nov. 24 at 1:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will be Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Pall Bearers will be Ed Elmandorf, Duane Mauck, Tom Edens, Wayne Linaburg, Vincent Barton,William Schuller, Sr. with Artthur Bragg as Honorary Pall Bearer.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Esther Boyd Animal Shelter at 161 Fort Collier Rd, Winchester, VA 22603 and Blue Ridge Hospice at 333 W. Cork St. Winchester VA 22601.
