Betty Burton  Landrum
Betty Burton Landrum, 73, of Stephens City, VA died Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at her home after a long battle with ovarian cancer.
Mrs. Landrum was born December 10, 1942 in South Boston, VA; the daughter of Marshall Chaney Burton and Geneva Hodnett Burton.
She was a member of Stephens City United Methodist Church and Friends of Handley Regional Library and had served two terms on the Board of Handley Regional Library. Prior to moving to the Stephens City area Betty was Treasurer of the town of Gordonsville, VA for many years and served for a period on the Town Council of Gordonsville. She had been a member of the Virginia Municipal League and served a term as Chair of its Public Safety Committee. She was also past president of the Orange County Chapter of the America Cancer Society.
Mrs. Landrum married Andrew Landrum on July 21, 1961 at Republican Grove, VA.
Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Yvette Jarrell and husband, Greg, of Orange, VA and Wendy Rose and husband, Shawn, of Barboursville, VA and grandsons, Spencer Jarrell and Gus Rose. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Dillon Jarrell. Also surviving are a sister, Hilda Long and husband, Danny, of Moseley, VA and a brother, James Burton and wife, Joan, of Nathalie, VA.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to friends for their support and to Dr. Nicholas Gemma and staff at Shenandoah Oncology as well as Blue Ridge Hospice for their excellent treatment and compassion.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the Stephens City United Methodist Church with Rev. Rob Schoeman officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church and after the service in the Orrick Fellowship Hall at the church.
